Exploring the past to understand the present and design a better future.

Since 2014, 6 editions of the GWC event served as a forum for inspiring speeches, meaningful conversations, and long-lasting encounters where Gaudi’s apprentices are able to re-discover already existing and learn to see what nobody has seen before.

Past editions

During the last 3 editions of the GWC, themes ranging from architecture and engineering to leadership and innovation were explored with the help of international Gaudi experts, together with industry leaders and professionals in a wide variety of areas.

GWC Astorga 2018

Gaudi's work and impact in Astorga

The third edition of the Gaudi World Congress started off in Astorga, focused around revealing unpublished research carried out about Gaudi's buildings. It was celebrated in one of the few buildings that this genius built outside Catalonia, Episcopal Palace of Astorga, and of which there is still much to discover and investigate.

During the course of the event, a whole timeline was studied from the past to the present, with a view to the future with the help of international Gaudí experts, speakers and industry leaders from modern companies.

GWC Barcelona 2018: Special edition

Originality and Innovation

The 3rd Gaudi World Congress and Kairos EU Summit, organized by the Kairos Society and Gaudi Academia of Knowledge, brought together 250+ of the brightest entrepreneurs and professionals with 75+ of the world’s most influential industry leaders, politicians and experts to solve Europe’s most pressing challenges.

During the GWC Barcelona's special edition, the past and the present were explored in order to be ready for creating a better future. Originality is going back to the origins, and this is why during the whole day we have created a forum for inspiring speeches, meaningful conversations, and long-lasting encounters where we will be able to re-discover already existing and learn to see what nobody has seen before.

GWC Barcelona 2016

Discovering life and work of Antoni Gaudi

This main congress of 2014, served as a platform for specialists and experts on Gaudi from all around the world to interact in a multidisciplinary context to provide unprecedented scientific research on contemporary construction, design and management applications.

This event aims to have an international impact and launch new lines of technological, creative and business research worldwide. It's carefully designed program is oriented towards experts, architecture and engineering industry leaders, university researchers and students and anyone who is interested in the life and work of Antoni Gaudi.

GWC Shanghai 2016: Special edition

A Mysterious New World: City, Life and Aesthetics

During a great pioneering undertaking of the 2nd Gaudi World Congress in Shanghai, Chinese culture's great influence on Gaudi will be discovered by the historians and experts. The Congress served as a platform for specialists to interact in a multidisciplinary context to discuss Gaudi's life around a theme of "A Mysterious New World: City, Life and Aesthetics". It took place on from June 21 to June 23 2016. The event was broadcasted in over ten cities in the Asia - Pacific region including Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia. etc and on the internet as well.

GWC Barcelona 2014

Discovering life and work of Antoni Gaudi

The first edition of this series of conferences focuses mainly, though not exclusively, on the church at Colònia Güell church, and analyses its applications.

The Congress presented a new story about Gaudi, with the presentation of unpublished studies, documents and works, as well as had the focus on the Church at Colònia Güell, laboratory and genesis of the new forms by Gaudí and his revolutionary ways of working.

Fernando Caruncho

He has a degree in landscape design from the Escuela del Castillo de Batres in Madrid. He is an honorary academic at the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence. Acclaimed worldwide, since 1979 he has completed over 100 projects, including Nordberg (New Jersey), Flynn Garden (Florida), Spanish embassy (Tokyo), among others

Architect and Engineer

Arnold Walz

Arnold Walz is an architect who runs Designtoproduction, his own company, with headquarters in Stuttgart and Zurich. 3D Geometric Processing Specialist in architectural design. He is a pioneer in the development of CAD parametric models of construction planning.

Tokutoshi Torii

Professor at Kanagawa University. Has become one of the leading Gaudí specialists worldwide. His architectural works include the Tower of Zizou Hatagaya in Tokyo, Takatsu and Asahiya hotels in Tsukuba (Ibaragi), the Embassy of Taiwan in Tokyo, among others

Architect and designer

Bea Fröis

Bea Fröis studied Architecture at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. She graduated with the Master’s Thesis, „Gaudí’s unfinished church in the Colonia Güell, – an attempt at a reconstruction according to the urban context”.

 

Having worked at the construction site of “La Sagrada Familia” in Barcelona for several months in 2000, she has researched in Gaudi’s form finding methodes. Based on the graphostatik calculations of Domènec Sugrañes i Gras, she researched and reconstructed a possible hanging model of “La Sagrada Familia”. Following this work, she calculated and built several other hanging models for exhibitions in museums in Barcelona and Austria.

Designer and entrepreneur

Sofya Abramchuk

My journey as a designer and artist has started when I was only 13 y/o when I discovered photoshop and fell in love with Da Vinci and Monet. After studying product and graphic design and architecture, my passion for bringing together the worlds of design and entrepreneurship through creativity and innovation grew stronger and took shape in my current ventures.

I have worked as a freelancer, funded several social start-ups, built several international communities, organised hackathons and conferences. Currently I work as a Creative Director at a design and certification consultancy dedicated to Antoni Gaudi and act as a Co-CEO of my own creativity education startup. I have worked and collaborated with companies such as Google, Microsoft, Renfe, Baidu, Xiaomi and local city halls. Also, I enjoy sharing my passion about creativity, design, entrepreneurship and the future of work as a speaker (TEDx, Gaudi World Congress, Bed Talks Barcelona, etc).
